I would really like to stay with hostgator and upgrade to a dedicated server for $174 but when you add in the fact that I need a another 80GB drive for a weekly back ups it costs over $200 which is expensive.
Beachcomber.net has the same package with double the hard drive storage for only $129. Please let me know if there is something you can do as I plan to purchase dedicated hosting within the next 24-48 hours. Thank you! |

You would be best off asking sales at hostgator.com for questions such as this.
You did notice the 10mbps ethernet? also this is a sale?

FYI, from their posts it looks like Beachcomber's datacenter is Fortress ITX in NJ. I still participate on the board of my old host, who is also in Fortress ITX, and let's just say there's a reason I'm not with them anymore. The datacenter is having *constant* problems.

I'm sure there's a reason that it is MUCH cheaper... I'll leave that up to you to figure out...

count my vote for hostgator dedicated.
1). servers here are reasonabily priced. 2). real 24x7 support 3). network here never lets you down, atleast my 3 yrs experience here. 4). compare the over heads at other provider, HG would be the best. 5). no hidden cost. and lots more. 3 yrs. 6 dedicated servers and counting, would say it all. :-) pk |

Thanks for everyone's opinion...your right beachcomber.net doesn't sound that good now that you mention the 10mbps plus I don't like their website.
Instead I will be going with pacificrack.com but you never know I may be back if hostgator lowers their price a little or just offer Davey a super deal hehe

please don't use www.beachcomber.net
Constant downtime without warning. Horrible technical support that took up to TWO DAYS to answer a "Critical" ticket. Noncommunicative server staff who are all-too-willing to shut down accounts for problems without contacting the customer first. Horrible |

I am no Hostgator guy and I can't give you an answer, still I feel it is unrealistic to ask for such offers. Hostgator doesn't charge you for the server hardware alone, they offer managed servers and great customer support. If you are looking for a cheaper host, it makes sense to use an unmanaged server from a reputed company. Stay away from such little known providers.

The only reason why I stay with hostgator and their outrageous prices on some stuff ($10 SSL INSTALL??), is the managed support I get from them. If you have a simple technical question or problem the live chat is just priceless. However for more technical stuff you gotta email hostgator, and emails can take up to 8hrs for an answer. Which is not bad at all.
