Fords don't have a very long life expectancy and tend to go into meltdown between about 85K and 100K miles. I've owned a few fords in my time and they all have done this. I had a 93 Ford Taurus that in 1998 literally went into meltdown -- everything went out all at once and ended in a blown head gasket. This was a car that was meticulously taken care of by my father. I tried a few fords after that and they all blew up too. My first car was a Chevy and was the best and most reliable of all the cars I've had (it was an '89 Chevy Cavalier). I refuse to buy ford now and only buy Chevy

We have a Chevy Astrovan now. That was back in 1998 that that happened though. We've had a LOT of other cars since then. The last Ford we bought got totalled 9 days after we bought it by a drunk driver. Dade was a mere 8 days old then and in the car with us. I only had liability and he somehow got out on bond and no one ever found him. Granted that wasn't Ford's fault but I took that as a definite sign not to buy Ford again. LMAO

Wow. Up until this point, I figured the Ford Escort that we had years ago that caught fire and burned was a fluke... now I see that others literally 'meltdown'...

I now own a Chevy Malibu (great car) and will never get another Ford.

Just my .02 worth.

Matt
