Hi
I'm virtually a click away from signing up for the reseller account with HG. I'm from South Africa and reselling for a top hosting co here, but am unhappy with the service. The idea of moving hosts, I never thought that it could generate such stress.! My service offering to my clients is the following oscommerce 2.2ms2 - the first and foremost - it's what I specialise in Joomla 1.5 phpBB 3.0 Wordpress coppermine Gallery Xoops - though I am comtemplating dropping this typo Ruby on Rails The problems I am been having with my current host revolves around register_globals being set to On which it seems I need in order to run oscommerce. Now I know for security reasons it should be set to off but what makes me constantly wonder is how is it that other oscommerce sites are funtioning fine with register globals off and both my stores need it on and my hosting provider cannot provide a solution for this. Is php5 automatically enabled on the reseller accounts? I would hate to have to move hosts only to find out that I will be having the same problem here. What is the policies here regarding the register globals settings on the server and can these setting be overridden with .htaccess if necessary? Every time I've tried - just doesnt work for me somehow? Rgds wolfone |

I hit the submit button too quick lol@myself. How can I find out if Xoops has a virus? When the site is moved over will you be able to pick this up or not - whether the site has a virus or not?

I'm not really sure - how this came about was I installed Xoops for a client and before too long - and he wasnt getting tons of visitors - he was exceeding his allocated data transfer quota by huge amounts - my hosting company said that it was due to spiders crawling the site and suggested a robots.txt file, wich we didnt do but transferred the site to a german server which was offering much more iro data transfer.
then sometime after that i contemplated moving hosts to a friend of mines server. it just so happened that the same site I'm referring too was the first site we moved over. My friend is also reseller for hosting co in USA and apparently they picked up that their was a virus and my friend was told to remove the site off his server. He also warned me that at times depending who you with - most hosting companies in situations like that automatically cancel/suspend your account without notification. Now this has got me a bit worried? I still dont know for sure whether its spiders or a virus and dont really know how to find out. We dont seem to be having the same problem we had with the excessive data transfer usage though. I dont want to move the site over and find out that theres a major prob, |
