Xenforo on shared hosting?

Hi,

Is it possible to run Xenforo on the baby plan? I contacted hostgator.in and they said I will need to buy atleast VPS level 3 for it to work.

But I have read that many people are using Xenforo on shared hosting at hostgator.com

So either the sales rep is incompetent or hostgator.in has seriously low quality servers.

I wouldn't mind signing up at hostgator.com instead of hostgator.in if someone can confirm that Xenforo can indeed be run on the baby plan.

I can confirm that xenforo runs just fine in a shared environment. However, depending on the growth of your community you might want to start planning for the future now.

I don't think there is any real configuration difference between Hostgator India and Hostgator.com. Most likely the support technician gave you a wrong info.

I have set up the system requirements file on my baby plan(hostgator.com) for you and says the server config is fine.

So you can safely use Hostgator.com, both baby and hatchling plan run on same servers and come with nearly identical features.

If you really want Hostgator India for the obvious speed and SEO advantage, you may ask the support to upload the test file so that you / they can verify the configration. Test file is available on xenforo site.
