Yesterday i have filled out the form to restore a table on my db (47000 rows... every rows=1 page of my site).
Today i have received a mail from restore@hodtgator.com that the restore is complete. NO the table is empty!!! and my users (more that 20000 pages every day) are seeing blank pages without contents. Last edited by php_dev; 06-22-2007 at 11:42 AM. |

Hello php_dev,
You should open a trouble ticket and request an administrator look at it.

The backup that they restored may have been from a few days ago

I don't know if i'm a stupid or no. Oh yes i don't know your language very well and so i am unable to write what i think really. I have to use very little string. But think on it: i have filled out a request restore. Today HG write me that the restore is ok. I go on phpmyadmin, check out the table and the table is empty. What i should think? I know HG is good. The customer support is VERY GOOD and all guys on chat are very professional. But now i am not writing about the support (very good),not writing about customer care or services (very good) but only of my request of restore (???). And I have not posted this tread to open a discussion about my problem, i have used the forum only to explain my problem to customer support. Last edited by php_dev; 06-22-2007 at 12:23 PM. |

If you want to get in contact with HostGator support this is not the best place to do it, instead you should open a support ticket. If HistGator support has done something wrong or haven't done something they were supposed to do there is nothing we can do. And one more thing... you have already created 2 threads with a title "what is wrong?", and one with "Help". The meaning of the title is shortly describe what the thread is about.

Well, the Law of Unintended Consequences states that when you open a discussion in a peer support forum, it will be discussed. Sorry. Its a law, and we don't break the fundamental laws of the universe in this forum.

Hi, not saying anyone, either you or HG is wrong, but maybe the restore is in fact OK in it's present status?
I mean, if someone deletes a folder on their account, and the scheduled backup occurs AFTER that deletion, and then they ask for the restore, the last backup I have would be with the folder still deleted. So technically the restore would have been done, but the customer's last available backup would not have the folder there because it had already been deleted. I know I'm being pedantic, but maybe you could file a support ticket, and ask nicely for them to check the last two or three backups (assuming they keep that far) to see if the table is there in earlier backups. H.

Funny thing is, you can try all you like, but the immutable laws of nature couldn't care less...
