I'm new to hostgator and wordpress. I asked a couple feeble questions last night on the wordpress forums as to why I can get wp-cache to work but can't get to wp-super-cache to work.
I'm just wondering if any hostgator users experienced issues when installing this. I've read that you may have to tweak the mod_rewrite documentation depending on your host which is why I'm wondering if my issue may be specific to hostgator's server. Specifically, the wp-super-cache folder isn't created in my directory. I can't figure out why, I went through all the troubleshooting suggestions in the FAQ. I'm just trying to help myself AND hostgator's servers. Help! And thanks! |

Then you go into the Settings panel in WP to set it up the way you want. As to the modification for the .htaccess mods, you do them within Super Cache, by clicking the appropriately labeled function in the settings screen. Are you with me so far? |

Hey Rockoids,
I wish I wasn't at work; I don't know how attentive I can be to this at the moment. I got hosting and Wordpress after 2.5 opened up and wp-super-cache was the first installation I had. I am familiar with the means to adjust the mod_rewrite code but haven't yet as I wouldn't want to screw up the configuration if I don't need to. What I read that frustrated others was that the wp-super-cache plugin wouldn't adjust the mod_rewrite code to find certain directories. Alot of issues noted around {%Document%Root%} (or something like that) if I remember correctly. I didn't know if that may be the issue. |

I use Wordpress Super Cache on quite a few HG hosted sites and have not had any problems.
Rockoids posted the how to above and that's all I have ever done to get it working. Uploaded plugin to relevant directory, activated plugin and setup it's options. Very straightforward. If you are changing from WP-Cache to Super Cache I seem to recall you had to remove something from .htaccess to be able to active Super Cache. But if that happens for you the error gets shown to you and is simple to fix.

I just made another post at WP forums as donncha hasn't responded to my others yet.
I completely wiped the wordpress installation and started from scratch. Supercached files show up on source page in browser and on admin page but not in my supercache directory on cpanel. Does that sound right? |
