Default Would you recommend Hostgator?

HI,
Looking for a new reseller host.
I'm interested in comments from others using hostgator.
How has the uptime been?
Do they publish uptime stats - Where?
How has support been? Fast slow?

Taking into account all hosts have some problems sometimes, have you been happy with the service?

I am with web serve . Canada and they SUCK big time.
I don't want to jump from one lousey host to another.
I am really in a rush, I have 5 sites down and no idea when they will be back up.
I have had no reply from my other crppy host for 4 days.
I email, phone, live help All Carp

Thanks for replys

I've been here since February 2005, first in Shared and the in Reseller account, and.. well if there has been any downtimes I can't remember them, so I guess the uptime has been close to 100%.
Support has always been fast, sometimes I have to ask twice before they understand but that's normal (english is not my native language).

So I am very happy with HG and if things stay like they are I'm not going anywhere

We've had pretty good luck with HG, except for a server hardware crash several months ago (as Forest would say, "It happens..."), uptime has been great and performance as well. Just as a quick check you can ping the HG servers, and then try some other hosts to see how response compares. HG's was twice as fast on average as our last host.

It really depends on what type of sites you have as to whether you would likely have any problems with performance. If they are low to medium traffic sites that run on well behaved code, I'm guessing you would be very satisfied. If you have very resource intensive sites you should either get the semi-dedicated plan or a dedicated server.

Some here have had issues with support, but overall I think the majority of customers have been fairly satisfied with response times, etc. It does take a few tries sometimes to get your point/issue across to them (just depends on who you get) but they are usually quick to respond at least from my experience. When I have emailed support I get the auto reply back immediately and a response back within 30 minutes ususally, sometimes an hour, but don't think it's ever been longer than that. I've only called a couple of times when the server/network was completely down and did get someone who gave me an ETA for when things would be back up. The last time was several weeks ago and it appears that there was a network issue but he told me to check as we were on the phone since he said it looked like it (my server) was back up and sure enough all the sites were working before I got off the phone.

They have a 30 day money back guarantee that they do honor so if you try and it doesn't work out for some reason, your time and effort is the only thing that you would have lost.
