As no one seems to know about if Hostgator is compling with the mysql dual licencing where HG would fall under the whole 500 dollars per year licencing per server, I would like to see a better more robust Database Postgresql.
No one I have talked too yet knows if they are in compliences and simply saying yes you are does really mean you are. I one would like to have confirmation of this. Many host of downgraded Mysql to old versions such as 3 before the dual licences. Postgres is now a growing trend, due to its stability and speed over mysql. So I would like to see if even if HostGator belives I am only 1/2% |

I personally developed my own CMS under MySQL so I must have it enabled.

There are plenty of host that use both.
ADOB which interfaces with almost any sql database be it Postgres MySQL or MS-SQL Oracle. Also I enjoy Postgres alot when doing side by side comparsions on the same server Postgres was 30% faster than mysql. I am not saying dump mysql, but I would like postgres install for the simple fact that I use it. While they might not put it on, it is in my best interest to let them know I am interested in it. |

I agree, I would love to see PostgreSQL offered as an option. It is just a more robust DB when compared to mysql.

I'd also like postgreSQL installed.
postgre for the win. Thanks, Dallas (the still-loyal customer of HostGator) |

I would also appreciate Postgre with Hostgator. MySQL sucks so much for subqueries where PG is as fast as MSSQL...

PostgreSQL is #1 on my checklist when comparing competition to HostGator. It is more highly regarded and recommended for commerce than MySQL, and standard SQL query syntax, which is not a feature of MySQL, is still required knowledge for truly studied web development. For instance, knowing only MySQL would mean you likely fail Zend Certification.

I never saw this until I was searching for something else and this thread doesn't even have what I was searching for. I wish this software had the ability to jump to a post in the search because when it pulls a thread that's 20 pages long, reading through that is NOT going to happen.
Anyhow, I agree with adding Postgres as an option would be great. I'd convert a lot of stuff over to it from MySQL. |

Rick I saw that but when I did it this time after trying again, I see my mistake. I clicked the name of the thread instead of the "RE: Name of thread". What I was clicking all that time goes to the first post of the thread. So that's where I got lost in that. But looking again after reading your post made me see what was in front of me I guess. Thanks.
