Default Why I Love Godaddy

I love the air compressor ad that they added to the email confirmation of recent renewal of two domains. How irrelevant is that to web-hosting? I guess the pennies add up for godaddy and help pay for the Danica Patrick ad and the other appealing-to-my-prurient-interests ads.

Vroom-vroom!

GoDaddy was my first host, and I still register some domains with them. However, I feel that HostGator beats GoDaddy by a long shot.

Just curious how and why you think hostgator beats GoDaddy, would like to hear your opinion/thoughts on it experience with GoDaddy.

CONS:
  • HG would have GD beat except for renewal time.
  • GD will let you renew for 1 yr. HG is monthly or 2yrs and up. (I confirmed by email with support.)
  • No coupons are valid with HG for renewal, but coupons work on GD.

PROS:
  • I feel HG has good up-time.
  • I am here now, and its inconvenient to change.
  • HG seems extremely responsive by support email.
OTHER:
  • They are both better than PowWeb!

I would have loved to extend my HG hosting contract on Black Friday after Thanksgiving last year (75% off), but it was new sign-ups only!

I think HostGator "was" a good host for me. Right now, I'm using FreeHostia's $10 plan, it's absolutely great, I love it. Basically the same exact things as HOSTGATOR'S BUSINESS, but cheaper.

HostGator is still one of the best!

We do actually allow yearly signups on any plan, however there is no discount for doing so unless you are on the hatchling plan.

Also we allow month to month payments, which im not sure Godaddy does.

Unless we are talking about domains here? In that case we do allow 1 year for most domains, .com, .net, .org, etc. some TLD's will require a 2 year by enom though.
