Why I give Hostgator a thumbs up!
My crew is very tech-oriented, with a multi-language programer on staff. Over the last 4 months, I have tried 4 other hosting companies, most of the most visibly advertized. I had problems from the start with creating new domains, to FTPing the site up, to installing joomla, to configuration and worst of all, tech support.
We signed up with Hostgator two months ago, and from the start it was a different world. The installation and configuration is so easy and self explanatory "even a caveman" can do it. We now have 10 sites up and running, including PHP, HTML and Joomla based sites. I am waiting for the Windows hosting to come online so I can move the rest of my sites.  It would be no surprise to us if 99% of their 2 million plus subscribers are as happy as we are. I highly recommend this hosting company to anyone
