When I go to the home page of my domain it goes to an advertising page. A link says "Why am I seeing this page" and clicking on it opens an email with the subject: "Inquiring about the domain '...org', with status: Registered". I sent an email asking why they're holding my domain hostage. It's registered, the nameservers are pointing correctly and the files are uploaded. How can it keep going to this other page? Granted I just registered the domain yesterday but usually a website is up in minutes. I was aggravated because the link just opened an email instead of explaing why I was going to that page. I think I get that expired domains are redirected. Is there anything I can do to get my website back without waiting for them?
Thanks. |

I was able to check the site on my computer at work and it's there. I wonder if it's my ISP that's taking it's time. I have Qwest which is not always the best. Thanks.

I just posted about this, but if your DNS are not being updated quickly enough, switch to a Free DNS provider. You can still use Qwest, just get your Recursive DNS some place else.

Is there a way to check if Qwest is the problem? I'm still not seeing the website at home but others can elsewhere. Thanks.

You can ping the address
Code:
ping mywebsite.com Look and see what IP address the machine spits back. If it is your current IP address Qwest isn't the problem. Provided that you domain is setup right. Check Code:
http://whois.sc/mywebsite.com |

Just a thought - if you first tried to access your site before propagation completed, and you are caching you pages and not refreshing them (this is a browser setting), then you may still be displaying the cached page even after prpogation has completed.
If you're using IE, go to your page (the one that shows up incorrectly), then hold down the CTRL key and press the F5 (Refresh) key. This will force the browser to reload (fresh from the server, NOT from cache) all content for that page. |

That really does depend on which browser you are using and how you have your setting. I have NEVER had a problem like that with Firefox. Its very good at detecting page changes.

(And with IE's zones, it's possible to have this set differently for the various zones, I think.) |

Well, what finally seemed to get it to work at home was unplugging and replugging in my dsl modem. I'm not sure if that's what really did it or just time but my domain is mine now.

Because your modem might be caching your dns lookups or so may your router.
