Default whois protection

Since a lot of registrars are offering this option, what are your thoughts about this?

You can use this if you are on the enom reseller account we provide, enom will give you the option to purchase it on a domain.

I have serveral clients who use whois protection. HG doesn't need to be involved, it is the registrar that does the actual protection. I use goDaddy.

If you're a client of HostGator, and we did the registration for you, you can also choose to have HostGator's information on the whois. This is beneficial as you don't have to pay for privacy protection to block your personal information, rather it shows our office information.

Good point. LOTS of people are worried about having their information in the whois database and are willing to pay $10.00 to $20.00 a year to hide it.

Plus, being in the whois database will get you spammed and junk mailed to death.

That is a nice option to have for people who don't care WHOitIS that shows up I guess I've just been lucky. I have my co. info. listed for all of my domains and I rarely get any spam at that address. Of course, I only have 15 or so domains so that might have something to do with it. Not to say I don't get spam. I get probably 50-75 a day but on my personal road runner account, not my co. domain.

I have about 60 domains and I don't get the spam, it all goes to the clients. They get mail about renewing their domains and buying hosting and things like that. The junk mail causes my clients a lot of problems because they all fall for the "Act Now or else" language.
