Whois Lookup

Hi

Does anyone know how i get have a whois lookup on my website so my clients can search to see it their domain name is available and then go ahead and register it. Any scripts or any advise at all will be appreciated.

I'm having problems getting a part of matts whois to work - see details from live chat below. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP?



Deji: i've added a whois script to my site and its all been installed correctly and seems to be working.

Deji: the only problem is after the script searches for a domain name, there is a button to order the domain name, and this button can be linked to a ssl space - so i've linked it to the free shared ssl space:https://secure24.websitewelcome.com/~abi81/

Deji: i've installed a billin.htm page into public_html as advised, and i'm linking to is via :https://secure24.websitewelcome.com/~abi81/billin g.htm

Deji: problems are - when i go through the whois script it comes up with this error:

Deji: Method Not Allowed The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /~abi81/billing.htm. ------------------------ -------------------------------------------------- ------ Apache/1.3.33 Server at secure24.websitewelcome.com Port 443

Deji: when i paste the actaull link into a browser:https://secure24.websitewelcome.com/~abi81 /billing.htm , it comes up. although the pictures are not showing, they show as red X's

Deji: to check do this: go to http://www.makhosts.com/domainsmain.htm, then put any domain name and search then try to order it. you should get the same error. and the address par shows the address its trying to access and its exactly the same.

Deji: its very weird - I don't really understand what its referring to when it says POST not allowed on the server?

Deji: yes - the script works fine - the problem is when the domain is not registered e.g. blablablabla.com, it will say congratulations the domain is available and there is a button that says 'order now' - that button links to https://secure24.websitewelcome.com/~abi81/billing .htm, but for some reason it comes up with the error, instead of going to the page. but we've established the page can be reached directly by typing the url in the address bar.

Deji: try a name that is not registered, anything, just press your keyboard, then you'll be able to test what i'm talking about

Deji: do it with http://www.makhosts.com/domainsmain.htm cos then you'll be able to see what is in the address bar

Deji: i think there must be a method being used by the script (POST) that is not activated, enabled or allowed on the server

instead of using billing.htm can you please rename it to billing.php and adapt the form action to reflect this change of course.
Then try again.
