Default WHMAP... is it free or not?

Hi all,

I'm considering to purchase reseller to start for mainly hosting few websites that our organization and I own. We may also offer to our members to host their sites for small fee.
I was looking at some info about reseller account at HG. It seems great. One thing for me needs to be clarified is abat WHM autopilot. Is it free for a reseller account or HG charge $25 as per http://www.hostgator.com/autopilot.php ???

I got confused reading from different pages on HG site.

Also, after reading some forum posts here, I got the impression that there're few steps that someone has to follow to purchase and set up for a reseller account, which is not clearly written on HG website. A claer step by step process until a reseller website is setup would be very helpful in this case, especially about domain reseller & whmap.

I'm waiting some responses before moving on...

Cheers...

WHMAP is free and you can install it yourself. HG will install it for the one-time fee of $25, but there's enough posts helping with that on this forum where you shouldn't need that.

Setting up a reseller account is easy, especially with WHMAP. Getting a site up quickly to sell hosting and domains should be no problem. And again, any questions you could have about doing it have most likely been asked and answered on previous posts on this board.

It is free if you set it up yourself. HG will supply you with the information you need to get it up and running. There are two versions, 2.xx and 3.xx. If you want easy, stick to 2.xx, plus HG will support it for you

Well since you delved into this..... any chance we can get a write up pros, cons v2 v. v3, new, removed.....

I've been looking at stuff here and WHMAP forums to try to get a handle on which way to go.

From what I am gathering it V2 for now may be the way to go for awhile since HG will support and I am venturing into a new challenge for myself.

I look forward to your report..

I haven't been using WHMAP since about 7 months ago. We were using V 2.4 I believe and it was limited but worked until HG screwed us up migrating servers. While others reported problems with it we had not experienced any problem until then.

We then tried to migrate to V3 and had nothing but problems from the barage of emails sent to clients, having to customize all the email templates and then accounts getting suspended with the due dates of their last invoice due in 1969.

Even Brandee went in and set it up one time with the same results so we bought a different program. While we are happy with it, I am hopeful to see improvement with V3 and am trying it out again. We will run it with a different company we are testing to see how things go with it.

I am in no hurry to get it set up, but will be happy to let you know how it goes. I am sure there are many others using V3 that may like to chime in with their experiences.

One con I have with V3 is the manual and knowledgebase for V3 is still non-existant at http://www.whmautopilot.com/

Installing V3 from scratch and upgrading to it from V2 are very different from each other.

The main guy at WHMAP is always on these forums, helping customers by the way.

from what i've read, it may be better to go with modernbill. there are so many limitations with whmap that i am not all that pleased with it (v3).

Does it show that the clients account has been created without error in WHMAP?

I definitely agree. It's getting quite frustrating. When asking about WHMAP I was simply told to go fill out the form. I have a client waiting for me to get all of the tech issues and billing ironed out. Would save the support group a lot of calls/emails if they typed out a page with all of the links.

It actually is as easy as read the knowlagebase at HG and visit the forums at WHMAP.

The WHMAP manual tells you step by step how to set it up and if you have a problem visit the WHMAP forums.
They are very active and I never had to wait very long for an answer. Not that I had many.
Being able to read a manual goes a long way.

I have to agree, with most of the documentation being there for setting up a reseller account and also the whmap. Just have to begin where the emails tell you to.

But as far as manuals go, I have yet to find a manual for whmap V3+

where do you download the WHMAP from? if I sign up a form at http://www.hostgator.com/autopilot.php - will hostgator charge me or that's how I will get the WHMAP through by filling up and they will just send it to my email?

HG will send you an email with the download link and your licence, they'll send you WHM AP V2 by default - if you want V3 you will have to email sales@hostgator.com and specifically request WHM AP v3.

HG won't charge you unless you request them to install it for you.

That's the way and you only get charged additional if you want them to install it. V2 comes normally and V3 if you request it special. Support by HG is only for V2 though.
