Default Which is better, upgrade to reseller or move to new reseller?

I have shared account in HG, Baby croc in particular. Let's us call it xyz-abc.com. Now I want to have a reseller account, it is either called xyz-abc.COM OR xyz-abc.NET. What should I do?

  1. Upgrade my Baby croc to Reseller and free my self of the transfer hassles. The downside is, I am using the the xyz-abc.COM which has a pretty good traffic and I don't want my readers to see a webhosting page instead of the usual article pages. If xyz-abc.COM will lost its traffic, money will be gone and it's all over.
  2. Create a new Reseller account, preferably the aluminum package and used my existing "sitting-on-the-corner" domain xyz-abc.NET. The downside is, I will have two accounts in HG, one for Baby xyz-abc.COM and the other one is the new Reseller xyz-abc.NET which means I am going to pay two accounts. But since the other acount is a reseller, I can host xyz-abc.COM to Reseller... BUT I do the transfer of files and database myself, and I am not that techie to do that.
Which do you think is better, upgrade my existing account to Reseller OR buy a new Reseller account and move my existing account to it?

I would ask HG about this in a ticket to "sales". I believe HG will assist you in moving from a shared server to a reseller server.

Either way you would have two accounts when switching from shared to reseller as we separate those two account types on different servers.

We do give an option to have a blank account if you do not need your files from your shared account.

Yeah, I know it's a little bit different than upgrades elsewhere but most hosts don't sell reseller accounts.

Shared to shared or reseller to reseller upgrades you do not have to change servers.

I usually tell people to upgrade about a week before the old one renews to allow enough time to transfer everything and cancel the old hosting plan.

I go with new account and avail one month free in Reseller, I will pay my shared host for another one month while I do the "COPY" (not move). I prefer to do it myself because I want to learn the process. I think COPY is better option when I do it myself than the MOVE process. If the outcome is not good, I would rather retain that account, anyway its earning.

I have another shared account that was paid for one year and will be due in 11 months, when that time comes, I think I am on my own of transferring that.

EDIT: My Reseller account is now active and believe me I availed one month free. I am now in the process of configuring the WHMCS.
