Hello, I have a client who would like to create a website specifically for announcing Events in a certain city. But is unsure eactly what kind of CMS or Portal to use to allow vistors to search for these events on his site.
This site is very simular to what he wants. www.allchurchinfo.com . does anyone know what CMS or portal software was used to create a site like this. |

Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated.
I was also wondering if anyone who has tried one of the Content Management programs that is provided through Fantastico knows which one will provide a search within the site such as this one? |

I have a site:
www.countywidecalendar.com that uses open-source (free) WebCalendar from k5n (they are hosted at SourceForge.com). It's just a calendar, but I've customized it for my site. It may be what you're looking for. See additional links below: ===================== http://www.k5n.us/webcalendar.php http://sourceforge.net/projects/webcalendar ===================== |

if you are looking for a really good CMS then you should check out PHP-Nuke Platinum @ www.futurenuke.com

Virtually all CMSes allow searches, some more powerful than others. I'd sum it up as, the more work you've got to do up front to set things up, the less you'll have to do later, and vice versa.
Xaraya actually uses events in a city as an example for how its modules work together (i.e., find by type of event, or date, or whatever). Last edited by gwyneth; 02-15-2007 at 11:07 PM. |
