Default What's Going On - Just Me???

Just wanted to update on this...Not sure what the problems were, but now everything has been going GREAT once again for the past couple of days.

I have had an account here for about a year with no problems. Until recently I hosted only a couple of fun sites but just recently put up my first site to make money.

Now it seems for the past couple of weeks I have experienced a number of problems with slow site response, failed database connections and other misc errors.

Is it just me or is everyone having problems lately?

I really need to know because I am preparing to upgrade from a hosting account to a server when I kick in the advertising for my site.

Did you ticket support when these problems have happened? Maybe it's a bad user on your machine that needs to be suspended.

Angry Re: What's Going On - Just Me???

I ticket the support team every time that these problems happen, which has been with increasing frequency the past few months. The admins have investigated, but I have not yet had a satisfactory answer to why the CPU usage and memory usage has been spiking so badly that it causes the named (bind) server to fail to resolve the domains in my reseller account.

So in answer to your question, no it is not just you. There are definitely some issues that need to be addressed.

My customers do not hesitate to complain to me when their sites cannot be found by typing in the URL. Most do not notice the downtime, as I have switched their e-mail services to Google Apps by changing the DNS records to point to google's e-mail servers. Most of my customers are small businesses, and e-mail is critical to them. I should not have to switch everyone to this, but lets face it, Google's services are just more reliable. Google's e-mail servers also do not get blacklisted by Yahoo, as my Hostgator server has been.

I think a lot more policing of the user accounts needs to be done to assure that no rogue scripts are running or spamming is occuring from these shared servers.

For the most part, I have been a happy Hostgator customer for over a year. I just cannot accept the downtime I have been experiencing with such regularity as of late, and am considering who to choose for my next hosting provider.
