webmail question...

is the webmail url for a hosted site going to be webmail.mydomain.com, or is there a longer more complicated url that will be used?

Also, is 'unlimited' really unlimited, or are there caps that come into effect with the email accounts?

Am I locked in to the Fantistico apps or can I install my own as well?

1- Not sure if that one works but u can set it up to word with a subdomain, otherwise as far as I am aware webmail is accessed through http://domain.tld/webmail or http://domain.tld:2095

2- Don't know but I'm sure good sense would be the limit if u are on ashared server. You also can and should ask sales@hostgator.com abt. this.

"webmail.yourdomain.com" will not work. "yourdomain.com/webmail" does work. Also, I agree with the previous post, its only unlimited up to the space that you lease. So its not really unlimited.

If I were you, I would set a limit on the mailboxes. (25MB's, 50MB's...something along those lines.)

Yes, you can set up a subdomain and redirect it no problem. Since there are three webmail options (neomail, Horde, squirelMail) You can go one further and redirect to the specific webmail of your choosing.

ie: redirect webmail.yourdomain.com ->
http://yourdomain.com:2095/horde/index.php to set webmail to use Horde.
