I must be missing something, but I'm unable to find out how/whether the additional email accounts that I create can access webmail.
To make myself clear, I've created some mailboxes and would like various people to be able to read them, using the names and passwords setup in cpanel. It would be convenient for them too be able to do this using webmail, since otherwise I have to explain about setting up a POP account in a client, there's issues with where the messages live, etc. It seems like the only way to get to webmail is through the cpanel, which prompts for username and password in the browser. Obviously I'd rather not hand that out to people who need to read the mailboxes. I'm used to running horde by itself and we have no problems like these. Any help appreciated. Thanks, George |

You would use www.yourdomain.com/webmail/ to access webmail outside of cpanel

Thanks for the same suggestion that's in the FAQ.
But since the answer made it seem like it must be obvious, I tried something that seemed crazy like putting the mailbox username ("mailbox+mydomain.com") and password in the browser authentication dialog. Imagine my surprise when it worked. The fact this always goes through cpanel (so says the header on the "choose your webmail") made me think I was supposed to use my hostgator username and password. Could I suggest that the text of the authentication dialogue (AuthName in apache config) indicate what's expected? For an example, see how TWiki handles authentication. The message is very helpful. Also the FAQ/KnowledgeBase topic on this subject could be improved (IMO). George |

Select the webmail you want your users to use ie: horder, and then create a subdomain which links directly to horde ..
ie: http://webmail.yourdomain.com/ points to http://www.yourdomain.com:2095/horde/login.php it seems to make more sense to me and the people i have using webmail. |
