As resellers, we need to know beforehand when you are planning to have a site maintenance on a certain server so that we can pass it on to our clients. Currently it appears that we have to come to this section of the forum to check manually. But most of the times we are here, we see users' inquaries rather than your maintenance notices.
Here is a simple suggestion that can solve this problem... What you could do is set up a thread for each server on this forum where you can post any new changes concerning a particular server. Then we could choose to subscribe to the thread that is for the server that our sites are hosted on. This way, whenever you update the thread about that server, those subscribed get a notice via email for us to check the update. In order for us not to receive an email notice every time a customer reply to the subscribe thread, it is better to disallow us to reply/update the thread - only the admin/moderator for a particular thread can post/update the thread. This means that you may need to create a new category on this forum and put all server maintenance threads in it. What do you think? Aubrey Last edited by swhbuild; 03-28-2005 at 12:38 AM. |

Great idea... It would be nice to know about a problem by being told from hostgator, not by loging in to email and getting a million messages saying the server is not working.. etc.

Yeah, I'd love a notification list only, no replies or any other unecessary traffic. It would be great if it was server specific, but even if it was just general, I could live with that.

I found this link, it is kind of nice and has to do with server status.

Well, it is the same as using WHMAutoPilot - since each reseller has WHMAutoPilot I would like to see something better. What I am looking for is a notice IN ADVANCE so that I could pass it on to my customers. Doing this according to what I suggested above is not hard technically unless HG has no way to get the notices themselves - would HG be on the same ground as its resellers? I do not think so. |

yup, same here. but this is basically what was asked in thread http://forums.hostgator.com/showthread.php?t=2293
and HG didn't answer that one. So I wouldn't hold your breath. Olly |
