way to keep em on topic whatr.
![]() My suggestion and title of this thread is to keep people online for the upgrade process, so things like "$6/month) on dedicated servers for free for who knows how long?" is kind of off topic. Unless the dedicated server takes who knows how long to setup.

If I knew our site was using borderline cpu amounts at any point in time for the first month of uninterrupted operation I had at hostgator, I would have requested a dedicated upgrade before we were suspended by hostgator.
Had I went down within the first few weeks of operation, I would have not canceled my old slower shared hosting with that other compmany, so my site was at least up for the dedicated upgrade. I would love a courtesy email alert at around 15-20% cpu or a free switch to an old dedicated server for 30 days to get > 100% downtime in the upgrade process. Just don't make the same mistake that I made. Keep your domain pointed to a third part dns for free or cheap, so you can point your domain name to any ip address you want without a dns change. If you need to sign up for a slower shared hosting account with another company for your website while your hostgator account is suspended and your dedicated server is setup, you could do so at the drop of a hat. Throttling the cpu would be nice as well if that is easier to do. It would take me a little bit longer when I rebuilt my cached pages but at least I would not get suspended.
