I see a level 9 VPS has a 5 GHz CPU but a standard dedicated has only a 2 GHz. I thought dedicated servers were supposed to be the best. Why does a VPS have a faster CPU?

Maybe because a VPS is just another shared host? Not quite as shared as other plans, but nevertheless you are sharing that CPU.

VPS servers are "Shared" servers with dedicated privilege. Host Gator normally inserts around 200 accounts on "shared" hosting plans. As for the VPS, you have allot less accounts on a server but can still be considered a shared server since you are not the only server user.
Regarding the 5.0 from the VPS and the dedicated server. You are comparing the best VPS to the lowest end dedicated server that Host Gator uses. If you go with the Elite server or the Pro dedicated server, those "are" the best, hands down. I hope that helps you out some. Johnathon King |
