Default VPS questions

Are the limits on the ordering page 'hard' limits? Some vps providers say things like '768MB burstable to 1.5GB'.

What comes pre-installed and what versions? MySQL, PHP, etc

Is the vps 'virualized'? i.e. can the configuration file for MySQL be edited for max connections and minimum word length for the search?

I'll stop there for the moment.

Bursting is currently not available at this time. We may decide to change this later, but that is based on how we see the usage on the new VPS go.

Furthermore, the VPS is for all intents and purposes your own "dedicated server", you have full root access, you can change the MySQL max connections, and minimum word length, etc. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

edit - would it be basically what we get with shared? At least initially until we changed the version ourselves?

Sorry for the dumb questions but I've never used vps before.

You get a package with cPanel the setup will be similar to our Shared/Reseller servers. If you don't get cPanel we give you a base CentOS installed which comes with Sendmail, Apache, basic text editors etc.. Yum is installed on the server which will allow you to install basically anything on the fly..

Example: `yum install php`

Default Re: VPS questions

The Basic 3 package looks tempting to me, especially with the 1/2 price sale through tomorrow.

These are my impressions at this time:
  1. I can sign up for monthly service and cancel at any time (I would need to turn the account over to my tech guy for testing suitability)
  2. The first month is approx $20 for the basic 3.
  3. I have several domains, I could point one of them at the vps account for testing purposes.
Let me know if those are incorrect.

Also:
Would my email IP be one of the ones that come with the account after I switched over? Or would everyone on the vps server use the same email IP?

Can you reveal specifics regarding ram/cpus on the vps servers and number of vps accounts you intend to put on each? (I know it depends on who gets what package so in that regard it is a silly question).

EDIT!!! It appears you are charging $10/Month for cpanel, I did not notice that until playing around on the order page.
