Currently familiar with cPanel shared hosting but looking at VPS.
A couple of questions and these are regarding a VPS. I currently have my own site on a single shared hosting account with 8 addon domains for friend’s websites. 1. Is a vps assigned or tagged onto a particular master account (mine for example) and then other domains added as standard accounts, or are all sites including my own site just simply added as new accounts. 2. From the brief reading I have done so far, with a VPS I understand account files and folders can be viewed through each domain’s cPanel but apart from the command line and Whm, how can one view all the server files like one would in filezilla or a case of doing all from SSH command? Thanks |

To answer your questions:
1. Account would be added as a new panel account. 2. You can still view server configuration files via SSH in any SSH client using the virtuzio power panel. The kind of files that require SSH are important for your servers security and the programs that are installed WHM, cPanel, spamassasin, etc. SSH should only be available for the root users or else it could be a major security risk.

You can continue using filezilla to view files uploaded for any site. If you do not understand how to use SSH or execute Linux commands, there is no use / point in seeing other files.
Even if you have managed services on VPS, owning a VPS is lot more pain than having a shared hosting account. One reason why people would want a VPS is having complete control of the server and ability to customize as they want, which doesn't seems to be your case. If you to want separate control over add-on domains, you may look into having a reseller account, instead of a VPS.

You can login to your VZ power panel, in there is a file manager that can view all files on your VPS as long as your are logged in as root. I assume also that if you FTP to the server with the root username/password (probably not recommended) you could see all the files.
