Default VPS OS Reloads?

I've PMed DaveC with a request to do an OS reload, since it appears that serv1.shattereddreamshosting.com is no longer reachable at all, no matter what I try.

I've already tried rebooting it via the Parallels Power Panel.

So far as I can tell, it's pretty much kiboshed.

So if I can get a OS reload, that would be absolutely wonderful, as I suspect that now that we've fixed the iptables issue, it should go more smoothly now.

Also, what's the policy on OS reloads for VPSes?

Go to your Power Panel

1st Stop Container

Then go to -> Maintenance -> Reinstall

I wish I'd known that one earlier. >_>;

Sure would've saved me a lot of time. -facepalms.-

At least VPS first-timers know what to do now that someone else has gone for this. lol

... Er... it looks like as if the accounts from the previous install is preventing me from recreating the accounts.

How do I remove them, as I see them in the Wheel Group, but that's the only place I'm seeing them?

I guess you didn't do a fresh reinstall...

You could try to remove them in SSH command line:

Account Creation Status: failed (Sorry, a group for that username already exists.)

Sorry, a group for that username already exists.

... okay. What group does cPanel usually add them to?

If you created an account with that username it will give you the error you are seeing there due to not all of the files being removed when you rebuilt the VPS.

When cPanel creates a user it uses the same name for the group. If you want a clean install you will have to choose `Drop the existing Container contents` when performing the rebuild. Otherwise you will retain the users and groups.

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification, quietFinn and BClemmer. (What's your first name?)
