i found several other venues that offered a far cheaper reseller package than HG . I could save the few $$$ but i feel HG servers/service is well worth the money.

This is great news. I was looking to move to VPS and didn't want to leave hostgator, but the dedicated servers is more than I need and more than I want to pay. Will hold out a bit longer as this seems to right around the corner.

İs definitely superior. However, a number too low to begin with 256 mb ram cpanel already in itself, this memory will consume at least 512 mb ram with the lowest price from the service are issued. Sites with high hit because vps is very difficult to accommodate. Naturally, cpu and ram should be comfortable in prices would be very expensive if not already come and get one vps.

reseller account - it is like you are company manager
VPS - you are company owner(and yes you can be manager in your company)

Few differences
- with reseller account you can create new account via admin panel
- with VPS you are able to do this too!
- with VPS you will have ability to setup any server side software, reconfigure software and !setup ssh for each client account without aditional cost!
- with VPS you are king(with all resposibilities), but to know power you will need to have knowledge (specially server administration).

You can buy more.
Besides, the smallest plan hardly is suitable for hosting a webhotel...

I have waited for a vps for over a year, could you please update us with info about how the beta is going on and do you got any date when it will be avaliable? It is alot of improovements that I need on my current website but I cant do anything than just wait for vps.. It is alot of vps solutions but I do got a trust in hostgator and would not feel safe with another then hostgator. If hostgator is not going to offer vps within a few months I will have no other option then moving to another host cause I cant afford a dedicated

I agree. It went to a HG page that had the vps packages advertised.

I did look where the url went in the browser address bar prior to clicking on it because in the past I've been tricked.

I just wanted to touch on this since people seem to be getting antsy on this. I don't have any ETA for you guys at this time, but I know it is coming along very nicely and there are just a few finishing touches that have to be put in place by our coders, and some final testing and internal changes by our CTO and Deputy CTO. That being said; it's quite close, but I still can't give you any exact date.

I assure you Pat and Dave will be the first ones to happily announce their new project here in the forums as *soon* as it's done and ready to go. Let me know if there's any other VPS related questions I can field in the meantime though.

I am very eager for you to get VPS too. ... I have a couple of questions that I assumed would have to wait until you launch. But if you care to share ...

Will VPS be managed to the point that it works pretty much like a reseller account? (Like will you keep PHP and MySQL updated to the most current stable release? And include fantastico for no extra charge?)

And I am curious if you will put any limits on the accounts. Specifically, will I be able to have 2 or 3 domains with nameservers on one VPS account? Example: If I have hostingcoa.com and hostingcob.com could their customers all be on the same VPS?

Wow, oh guys this is truly fantastically great news! I have been virtually begging HostGator's poor sales reps for VPS for well over a year. I have tried no less than three other VPS providers, and gave up on them because of the poor support. My most recent (and current) VPS provider has been OK, but I hate having to wait for tickets to be answered to get any help. HG reps are always SO helpful and friendly.

I will tell you I'm paying only about $30/mo for my current VPS, but I still have most of my sites hosted on the "Baby" plan on HostGator, and I will HAPPILY upgrade my Baby shared plan to a VPS plan starting around $40. I might consider spending more than that if the features are right -- it will be a pleasure to deal exclusively with HG again!!

I am SO happy the day is (presumably) drawing near!
