The VPS BETA is closed now. We have more then enough BETA testers at this time.

We might open it up at a later date, when we are a little closer to launch.

Thank you for all of your feed back so far.

I just inquired about this not too long ago and was very upset it wasn't offered. Thank you for listening :-)

How soon until we can order? And what is the pricing schedule?

I have been asking about this for ages, and wasn't pointed to this forum... Needless to say, I went direct to the planet.. Which is a shame!

Quick scanned the thread, didn't see an update on VPS as it applies to resellers.

Does it require an upgrade?
What's the price increment?
Disruption to current customers?
What other important questions am i forgotting?

@GatorDaveC
As told by the beta testers you are using virtuozzo??
I am using VPS's for more than 5 years and they where awful till i got a XEN VPS package...
XEN is currently miles ahead of virtuozzo in the VPS section and you should really consider giving XEN plans...
This would really boost up your sales.

Hi. I need to be able to modify the firewall settings to increase the maximum connections per minute limit, to enable 20+ users from a single IP to access a web application. Would that be possible in a VPS?

Also, would a VPS be easier to administer than a dedicated server in any way?

Thanks, in advance.

personally for me, reseller plan have not enough control features and shared hosting plans is best right from price view point.

I use third party VPS and waiting for hostgator plans details and prices.
Hope this VPS will be launched soon.

PS:
actually I think you need to provide Xen AND Virtuozo as different plans, both have bad and good things. By my self I prefer Xen.

Actually, I like that idea. It'd also give HG an opportunity to give customers a choice and a solution that they could want.

So far I'm learning about VPSes for the first time... it's fairly close to like managing a dedicated server.

After you get the VPS, I'd suggest you read the DediKiddy threads, as they apply perfectly well to this situation as well.

It is to much money,

They offer 1 GB of RAM for like 20 USD

If you are looking for the cheapest prices this is not the right place for you.

In Finland we have a proverb "The poor can't afford to buy cheap"

Since I signed up for 3 shared accounts it could be interesting. It's definitely time to move up to a VPS.

Irun a cubecart store on one of my domains on my reseller account and the sql server times out frequently due to being on a shared server. Will VPS solve that issue? Instead of recoding admin pages to make them work, itd be great if they just did. Hopefully someone who had a similar issue is a beta tester so they can let me know. :-)

Short answer: Yes it does.

Longer answer: VPS is like a small dedicated server, so there are no other accounts running in the same server. So unless your own site is causing too much load in the server you will not get sql timeouts.

What type of proxy are you wanting to run? A Proxy service like proxify or pagewash?

What are the differences between the reseller plan and a VPS? I always just assumed the reseller plan was a VPS.

Thanks.

No it would just be an SSH proxy for my own personal use, For surfing from work for example.

I believe I cannot do this on my shared account?
