Default VPS Email Resource Alerts?

Is it possible to receive email or SMS resource alerts from my VPS? Or are there any scripts I could schedule to do the same? Also it would be nice to schedule daily reports from the VPS to monitor disk usage and bandwidth.

Thanks for any VPS newby help.

even though I am no expert by any means, I have developed enough now to check memory usage, disk usage and inodes. In the scripts I watch for certain levels, easily modifiable to your needs. If they reach the levels, it sends an email.
I now am working on monitory bandwidth usage. I am at my laptop computer but will share them tomorrow when I am at my desktop.

My hope is some experts look look at them and make some improvements.

Attached is what I have so far. It's ugly but I am an amateur with linux. I hope to keep working on it until it is a thing of beauty...

The next part will be to monitor bandwidth. I ended up installing VNSTAT, this will log bandwidth usage so I should be able to include in the script something for that next.
