Have a level 3 VPS with 768 MB ram, 30 GB disk space and 500GB bandwidth.
Am not there yet, but could be potentially concerned about future scalability, especially in terms of disk space. For dedicated servers, there's a choice of buying another harddisk (250GB at $20/mth), but for VPS, the next step at Level 4 will cost me additional $30/mth with only 30GB more. If I want 250GB space with a VPS, I need to get the Level 9 plan that will cost $170/mth more with additional CPU/RAM/bandwidth that I may not need. When I asked Sales whether they allow piecemeal upgrades (i.e. RAM, disk space or bandwidth), their reply was: "Unfortunately the only way to increase these specs would be to upgrade packages. Increasing the components isn't an option since it's a VPS." I thought that a VPS should allow virtual or logical partitioning of the server resources to allow on-demand scalability? Seems to me like it's a commercial offering issue rather than a technical issue. |

I agree that it would be nice to have som alacart upgrade options.

I second that. I have seen other hosts that do allow customized scalability options and that is a major plus. I don't currently have a VPS, but the one thing I have noticed when I was pricing then is that it would be nice to have the option to increase hd space without going "Up a level"

well it might come into play in the near future but again it might not
but i do agree with that idea to have that options to add more space and also you always could just upgrade to level 4 you need too |
