Default Video Sharing Script

I am researching video sharing scripts for a client and would like to know what the rest of you would suggest and why.

Thanks for that one.
I was looking at phpmotion for the simple reason it allows video and audio tracks to be uploaded.

The site will be used by a DJ to upload videos, but I feel the ability to upload audio will be a nice feature to have.
In the end, who wants to sit and look at a DJ doing his thing. Its about the music isn't it?

I'm sure you aren't guilty of this, but for those others that may be reading: Don't even think of running video sharing on a shared server!

PHPMotion is a OK video sharing software but I did not like it so much it was a bit hard to customize and the video player was a bit bad designed..

What's wrong getting a shared server? I used to own a video sharing site and it ran fine on a shared hosting server??

I have Clip-Bucket up and running, still having issues with phpmotion.

One interesting thing that I noticed with clib-bucket is it shows the total disk space of the VPS account instead of just the disk space the account it is hosted on.

The VPS disk is 30GB, the account diskspace is 5GB (just for testing)
Stats in clip-bucket shows total space as 31.5GB.

If you are going to run this type of script on a shared server, I would advise you to read the TOS or contact HG directly...

You are on a VPS yes?

Although a VPS gives you dedicated resources etc. it is still run in a shared environment, therefore I am pretty certain you would be in violation of Hostgators terms of service running such scripts/programs.

You would be best advised to contact Hostgator directly for clarification on this issue

Actually no it would not be in violation of Hostgators terms of service. I contacted them my self and they said I was welcome to install Ffmpeg service and also host a video sharing site as long as it was on a VPS or Dedicated Server.

The scripts that you are referring to in this thread will be fine on our VPS servers, as long as you are not infringing on someones copyright and do not use too much CPU. The VPS servers are still in a shared environment so you must be mindful of your CPU usage. Using more than the allocated amount can cause problems throughout the server. These accounts are designed for a greater configuration of the hosting environment, ffmpeg for example. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
