I'm nearing the end of my first month with HostGator, and I must say I'm very happy with the hosting and the support. Previously, I was with Newista for almost 4 years.
Then, the owner sold out to another company (SomeLogic) and didn't even let his customers know until all was said and done. SomeLogic staffers are very nice people, but their support is lousy and the server was constantly crashing. I paid 5 times more a month over there than what I do here and I have 3 times more here than what I did over there. I put up with the downtime, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But, the straw that broke the camel's back was the server had been down for 3 days. I couldn't file a help ticket because helpdesk was broken. I sent emails to their support address but those bounced back -- seems their mail was broken too. I called their 1-800 (supposedly 27/7 number) over 15 times in 3 days at various times and every time there was an automated message saying they weren't taking phone calls and call back during normal business hours. This was during NORMAL business hours! I found HostGator quite by accident, and I'm very glad I did. It's nice to have a host that delivers what you're paying them for, and the support has been quick and very helpful for the few times I've actually needed it. I plan to be here for quite a while.
