Verification of Account - Pain Comments

I open a Baby account a few days ago to try HostGator. Because my office, bank accounts, address, everything is in the USA and I am now in the UK I was asked to either call to veryfy or send and email with a copy of my credit card and ID.

I am deaf so I could not call and sending Credit Card photocopy together with ID in an email? Say what? So finally I had someone call for me and we thus verified the account.

After going about a bit with the Baby account I decided to go for a resellers account which I opened today; however the account is now blocked pending verification, so I got another email asking to verify.

This is just quite annoying.

So is the MASSIVE degree of attempted fraud...

It sucks that sometimes totally legit folks have to deal with a hard time, but if you realized how much trouble fraud signups has caused the hostin industry you'd hopefully understand why the security has to be so stringent.

I agree. Totally, but sending photocopies of credit cards together with ids over email is not exactly a safe way to verify anything!

And my contention is that I just openend and verified an account 2 days ago and now I am opening another one with exactly the same information, address, cc, etc, and I have to verify the whole thing again.

Well, thanks HG for a swift response. A nice person at HG found my previous account and activated the new one. So all sorted, and I must say promptly sorted. If all HG responses will be like this, well this is a good reason to stay around.

I've found Hostgator to be imperfect, but worthy of fergiveness... it's all made up for in other ways!
