Default vBulletin 3.6.7 PL1 Upgrade

I've just upgraded the forums to the latest version of vBulletin, vBulletin 3.6.7 PL1

Quote:
vBulletin 3.6.7

The 3.6.7 package has been updated as of 18:30 UTC, May 16th 2007

As much as we hate to spring another upgrade on you all so soon after the release of vBulletin 3.6.6, an XSS flaw was identified today and in order to maintain our commitment to fix security problems as soon as we become aware of them, we have to release 3.6.7 and a patch for older versions.

All versions of vBulletin 3.6 prior to 3.6.7 are vulnerable to the XSS. vBulletin 3.5.x and 3.0.x are not affected.

To minimize the pain of another upgrade, there are no changed templates since 3.6.6 and no database schema changes, so the upgrade should be as simple and quick as possible.

Since we have fixed several bugs since vBulletin 3.6.6 was released, these fixes are also incorporated in this version and include amongst others:
As always please let me know if you find any issues or bugs, at the moment im working on the template which may be "broken" in a few spots. So no need to report on any template/theme bugs at the moment.

Also a bunch of fun new smilies for you guys, so enjoy!

In Firefox at least in the advanced view, the message box is streched (probably from the width of the smilies). Perhaps making it naturally wider would be the best course of action.

I wish I could upload the picture as an attachment but the server refused to resize the bmp. Yarr. My laziness never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks for the smilies .

Default broken tables in the forum

Admin:

If you have to use a fixed width layout for the forums, you should change the width of the code blocks so the tables don't break as in this topic: http://forums.hostgator.com/showthread.php?t=18560 It appears that your width is set to 650px (I believe the default is 640). But because the forum is fixed at 750px and the thread table is somewhere around 700px, with all the padding and margins, etc., the table breaks slightly when someone writes a CODE HTML or PHP BBCode. Then when someone quotes the code block, the combination of the quote block and the code block breaks the tables severely.

You can access the code block variable in your admin CP by going to Styles & Templates | Style Manager | <stylename> All Style Options scroll down to Sizes and Dimensions - Code Block Width (pixels). My suggestion would be to reduce the size to no more than 600px.

An even better suggestion would be to switch to a fluid width, but that's a debate for another topic.

Best R'gards,

Jim

You're saying you can't see this: http://www.enterprisejm.com/images/s...iew_tables.gif

It's better than it was yesterday, but the tables are still broken.

I checked it in FireFox 2.0.0.4 and it looks the same as it does in IE7. One of the best things about vBulletin software is that the markup and CSS validate right out of the box and looks the same in nearly all browsers.

The broken tables issue is a real issue. Whether you can see it or not doesn't change the fact that it is happening.

R'gards,

Jim

Right... just makes it harder to troubleshoot.

As I said a few threads ago, there are major problems with the template we were using that is being worked out. There will be a fluid design soon, its in development. Unfortunately our old fluid design was made for a much older version of vbulletin, and thus I created this new version so that you could have all the features of the new VB. So if its between losing most of the features, or having a broken table in a few threads. Im sure most of you will pick the features. Don't worry, im actively working on getting it fixed.

I vote features I could care less about broken tables due to long urls or doing quotes on top of quotes etc.

I couldn't have put it better myself - it really isn't a big issue, and there are very few broken tables anyway.

You should upgrade to 3.6.7 PL2, it is an important update if you have already upgraded to 3.6.7 PL1 but if you haven't then it isn't as important but still worth it.

Upgrading to 3.6.8 PL2 would be a safer option

Yes.

If you were running 3.6.6 then you would upgrade to 3.6.7 PL2 but it isn't that important, only bugs.

But if you have already upgraded to 3.6.7 PL1 then you should upgrade to PL2 ASAP because there is a security vulnerability.

I had to do this

Here are some stuff I would like to see on the forum.
- Liquid width or @ least a width increase from 750px to 950px. This can be done very easily.
- Favorites - I simply do love this feature
- a lighter post background.

The increase to 950px would cut out users who are visually impaired - hence discriminatory.
