Default Uploading content?

Hi, I'm new to this forum obviously and new to cPanel and Hostgator in general. Here is my dilemma. I am trying to figure out how to upload content onto our webpage. Previously with our last webhost, all we had to do was go to www.mywebsite.com/admin , login and could upload from there. The reason we switched webhosts was that we were being forced to upload videos in WMV format. Well, we use all Apple software and wanted more options and to be able to use quicktime, does that make sense? Anyways, I've watched the tutorials and such, followed instructions to upload and when I do so then check the website, there is nothing new showing. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance.

Are you sure you changed your nameserver? It appears your site is still hosted with your old host.
The old webhost was instructed to end our account, could that be the problem? Hostgator support said we were up and ready to add content and that everything had been switched over. Thanks guys for the help, a lot!!!

Hostgator support told us that they had done so. I'm not gonna lie to you, this is all new to us and maybe we shouldn't even be messing with this portion of the website, will probably have to hire somebody with experience. I'm pretty computer savvy as well as my biz partner as well, it's just that this is a new program and we are trying to grasp it and not have to bug somebody else to show us. The tutorials are vague and don't really show how to do anything. At this point, I feel like a 3yr old and just need someone to walk us through it. Once I see how to do it, then no worries. Thanks Serra for your patience.

Is the domain you had posted above the domain you signed up for hostgator with? Is it the same domain you were using at your old host?

Again, like I'm a 3 yr old!!! When you say domain, you mean my website name? If so, yes, it's the same, nothing has changed namewise.

You will also be able to upload the cpanels file manager if you like. FTP as stated before is the better choice. As for the nameservers, unless you transfered the domain name registration to HG, they could not set your nameservers for you.

So, sitting right here in front of the computer right now, what info can I retrieve and give to get some help to see if everything was transferred? Where do I look and what does everybody need from me?

Yes, for instance, Google's domain is google.com.

You need to change the nameservers to match the nameservers hostgator gave you in their welcome email. Where did you first buy the domain from?

Whoever or wherever your domain name is registered will lead to the place or person that needs to change your nameservers. Is the domain in your name and who is it registered with?

Edit:
Looks like Serra looked up the registrar for you above. If it is in your name you need to login to godaddy and change them or if you don't have access your old host needs to.
