Default Upgrading Account

The company I work for currently has a shared account (Baby plan) with HG, and we would like to purchase a reseller account to move several other sites here as well. We would like to upgrade to the Aluminum plan, and I have read the FAQ section and found the upgrade request form, but I want to know how the upgrade of the account will affect the existing website that is hosted under the shared plan if at all.

I know with the reseller accounts, you get WHM and have sub-accounts under it with cpanels for each of the accounts you wish to setup. Will using the upgrade form affect the exiting site by changing any defaults or settings? I just want to make sure that this upgrade does not cause any downtime on the existing site, since it is a client facing site.

Would it be any safer to just purchase a new reseller plan, and then move the existing shared account and site under the reseller account? Then we would just need to cancel the shared account.

Another question is are there any uptime statistics available for the various reseller servers and can you request to have your reseller account placed on a particular server or not on a particular server (i.e. Jeep)? Thanks...

David, the upgrade process should be seamless and result in little, if any, downtime. However, since you are requesting to upgrade from a shared plan to a reseller plan, I'd like for you to email sales@hostgator.com just to be sure.

As for the uptime stats, we do not currently have these figures available for distribution, but several of our customers have said good things about www.siteuptime.com, which allows you to monitor your server uptime.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Thanks, I will email my questions in then. Actually I already use siteuptime for the current shared account.
