Default Upgrade--why?

Okay, I've been researching and trying to discover all the pros and cons of upgrading from a Baby shared to an Aluminum reseller.

I have no intention of reselling (for now, anyway), but as I understand it, I can give my shared-account-addon domains their own web sites. I LIKE that idea.

But... I'm paying $7.95 a month right now for 600GB/6,000GB

An upgrade to Aluminum is $24.95 and only 24GB/250GB
(And the GreenSeller is $15.00, 10GB/150GB)

I'm good at English, but I suck at math. However, the math above just does doesn't look right to me. Would it be worth that significant "rent raise" so that I can operate each domain with it's own cPanel? Is that the only benefit?

I would really like to hear from EVERYONE who has a relevent comment about this, please?

Anyone

Everyone

The main difference that I see is you can give each domain of yours a separate cpanel login. Not sure if that's an advantage or not for you.

Under the TOS you can't resell the non reseller plans, but you stated you don't want to do that anyway.

Any other reason you are considering such a move?

the main advantage to considering a reseller package for your own domains is "account isolation". you can give each domain its own cpanel account. this is good if you need more than one dedicated IP / SSL. its very conveneint as well.

Resellers also have controll access to DNS for all domains under the reseller account....ability to easily configure private namservers for not only main account but any other cpanel accounts as well.

the big advantage of isolating the domains is if any of your sites might be prone to hacking, attacks, or anything that might get an account suspended..... if one of the cpanel accounts are suspended or compromised, the other cpanel accounts are not affected. on single cpanel account with all domains as subs/addons.... if one is supended or compromised, they all go down.

so the decision is whether these "features" are important to you. if they are you take the rent increase and if not, then you have your answer as well!

good luck

btw.... we were under the impression that the green reseller plan... now unofficially known as the WeeSeller Plan(tm) was 10g/150g. after actually getting one, i found i was slightly misled by sales... its actually 12g/125g which actually seems to make more since as the plans seem to follow the approx 1/10 ratio.

i purchased one for my own domains and couldn't be happier

The additional cost also covers WHMCS, eNom reseller, etc.

Plus, knowing that you're on a server with fewer root accounts than a Shared server is a huge plus with me. Much fewer problems!

Actually, the reseller plans are priced on the assumption that you are reselling. The price increase is almost purely for purpose of licensing you as a reseller of the HG service. Other perks are just that.

Explain...

1) ... how resellers are "priced on the assumption that you are reselling"

2) ... how is the price increased tied with the purpose of licensing. What licensing are you referring to?

The WHM license costs HG something, and so does the cPanel license resellers have, which allows them to create unlimited (cringe) cPanel accounts.

Yep, but I don't think 'whatrevolution' was going in that direction. That's why I was asking him.

And each domain will have its own limits!!
now all your domains are under the limit of 25% CPU usage for 90 sec max,
while on reseller they EACH have that limit.

If one of them gets over that limit it is the ONLY one suspended (in reseller), while on shared account all your domains are suspended.

I guess the same applies to all the other restrictions/limits.

Wow!

You folks sure have given me a LOT to think about!

Thank you SO MUCH!

I went an looked at my stats for my shared account and I saw this:

Disk Space Usage 325.03 Megabytes
MySQL Disk Space 13.96 Megabytes
Disk space available 614074.97 Megabytes
Bandwidth (this month) 1767.75 Megabytes

I'm okay at the moment, I can give this much needed thought.

Everyone,

Okay, I've got a ticket in for an upgrade. I believe that if I am going to take my Internet Marketing business into the realm of reality, then I think individual web sites for each domain would be appropriate. Some of them will be sold in the future, this would expedite the process.

Tshirtdesignz--can you either fix the affiliate image you're trying to put on posts, or get rid of it? The broken image is distracting and doesn't link properly to anywhere. (It's a link to your rotfl site that's supposed to redirect to your affiliate link).

Well its a big step-down in terms of resources, so it seems a bit pointless if you aren't going to resell.http://www.jakeruston.com/image12.jpg
