the title said it all.. i need "Upgrade in performance & speed".
I am using baby plan now, happy with it. But due to current expension and require to add new website to the account, i look forward to upgrade the account. I really need to find out. "Will upgrade from baby to swamp, result in increased performance & speed"?? Anyone do this before? I not look forward semi-dedicated, i am not there yet. Hopefully one day soon

Hello,
The swamp plan still has the same server resource restrictions as the baby plan, other then Bandwidth & Disk Quota. Are you having any specific areas that are slow on your site? It looks like it's loading pretty quickly, but it looks like its loading additional pages, such as secure.hostgator.com. Any extra DNS resolving is going to cause the page to load a bit slower, since your resolvers have to grab the domain. You could setup another Hosting account which would give you an extra layer of stability if you added in Round Robin DNS, or other setups similar. ...I was going to add in something else, but completely forgot what I was going to say... I think I should probably get some sleep. Last edited by GatorDaveC; 07-20-2007 at 06:46 AM. |

![]() now i reduced the number of sites on the baby account, and noticed that the site load pretty fast. However, future expension is here. And i got 2 new phpLD site.. that not sure where to fit in. Link directory is much easier to boost, and will gain in traffic (some from bots) pretty quickly. basically my site is not cpu intensive etc. Just require fastest response and page load.

Adding other sites shouldn't cause your current sites to run really any slower at all unless they are causing high load on the server. To the server, it's just another DNS and Apache entry.
The resource restrictions we have in place do not limit the percentage of CPU usage you can use, we limit the actual CPU time a process is allowed to run for and the amount of processes your account is allowed to have running at a time. Limiting resources as I stated above allows the users site to load much quicker then if we limited them to a certain CPU percentage. |

I was modifying my title this morning in the forum database, and decided to change my post count for fun as well. I did have a scrolling marquee in my name, but that was kind of annoying =)
