Hey guys,
I already have a hostgator hatchling account, which can hold op to one website. I have another website at a different host and would like to; a - upgrade my account to a baby acc, to be able to link both my websites to the same account. b - switch the domain a from host x to HG a should not be a big deal, I'll simply navigate to https://secure.hostgator.com/upgrade.php and upgrade my current account. However, I received an email from host x and it said I need to renew my account and domain over at host x before 11 May, 2007. If I switch now, will that give you guys over at HG enough time to transfer the domain? I'm afraid that host x will simply dump my domain if I request the account to be unlocked and the new hoster (HG) doesn't transfer before 11 May, 2007. grz |

Never give your old host a warning that you are moving. I found some to cause problems when trying to move.
Best course is go ahead and start the move which should be complete within a couple days, but keep the option open to pay another month at the old host to be safe if all doesn't go as planned.

Thx for the swift reply George! I checked my domain status on whois.cc and the expire date in my whois is zet on 21 May, 2007. I guess they just said 11 May, 2007 just as an extra safety. 21 days should be enough to switch from host to host, right?

You can switch to HG without changing your registrar anyway. Just need the nameservers changed when you are ready. They may have used the earlier date to give time for a domain transfer...or maybe that is your renewal date for the hosting plan?

That should definitely be enough time. As george said, you can either keep your domain registered over there and switch the nameservers to HG, or you can move the domain over to HG. But decide quickly!

Obviously, if you host offers a free domain, take it, that is the one exception. |
