An Unusual Company

HostGator has exceeded my expectations by an order of magnitude.

Background on myself so you know my opinion is not formed from being a typical retail customer. I was programming in BASIC in 1978 and earned a certificate in Assembly (aka Machine) Language by 1983. Built an insanely successful BBS and later spun it into a web hosting company with my own hand-built servers and expensive T1 line. Was acquired by a much larger ISP in the mid-90's. Colocated servers at EV1 for a few years, but today I'm just an end-user since I didn't have the patience for dealing with late-90's style end-users (generally far more needy than years gone by).

I can say that HostGator is a 1st-class, top-notch web host. I'm completely blown away with their fine, friendly attitudes and willingness to help. I understand very well the challenges they're up against. Hosting is a very complex business and most people don't appreciate what must happen to keep your websites & email up and performing well. It's hard to believe, actually, that they're so friendly and helpful. The owner clearly runs a tight ship and hires only good, solid people. Each individual I've come in contact with has been helpful, professional, knowledgeable and forthcoming. This is extremely rare in *any* business sector. I can honestly say that HostGator is the best supplier we use at my studios, period. Even if we experience some rough times down the road we'll still stick with these HostGator people, because they're earned my confidence. I know they'll make things right at the end of the day, so to speak.

The staff should be very proud of themselves. I trust they're being well taken care of. They certainly deserve more than par.
