Hi,
I can't do Search as I'm not a member, yet.
I consider to host my fresh vBulletin with HG on Shared hosting.
Would you please list some vB sites which are using SHARED hosting?
I guess this is allowed if people have intorduced themselves and their sites, so it's will not a problem to list those who agreed to publish thei sits o a public forum.

Shared hosting only, please :-)
Thanks!

I do not have any references to sites that use VBulletin (You'll have to wait for some members to answer that) But I have not had more than one or two support issues with VBulletin over livechat. (Which were easilly solved) VBulletin should work fine with us on shared depending on the amount of users/traffic you are generating. Obviously a forum with 100's of active members online at a time will need a semi-dedicated or dedicated. If its just an average forum, you should be a-ok.

And off-the-question, VBulletin is the best and smartest choice for a message forum.

Default Gators: can you post this question on the members-only forums?

It would be appreciated if you could post a link to this thread in the member only forum. This would help me to see if its other vB sites, which are hosted here are fast!
For example: HG forums are extremely fast, but I assume they run on a dedicate server

Thanks in advace

The paid features of vBulletin are great, you get access to an excellent community and TONS of premium mods/addons for your forum. The board itself is also very stable, and has much better security then many other free based forums. It's just a personal opinion, but ive never had a problem with vBulletin. (Where i've had hell with boards like PhpBB, etc)

If this forum is vb, it sure would be nice if it had a navigation bar at the end of the message listing rather than just at the top.

Ditto Jeff...it is a pain in the *ss to scroll back to the top and navigate back one section at a time so the post you read gets marked as read also.

Default This thread should be mentioned on WHT...

Yep, you've missed the point.
You also missed a client.

I don't get it... your question was answered by Jay - "you should be a-ok", and he said he wasn't going to list customers' vb sites, they could do that themselves. then people proceeded to talk about other things, because people like to chat. what offended you?

Olly.

Sorry if I offended you in any way, if I had a vb site I would have posted it for you gladly, but all mine are PHBB or IPB. Not sure why no one else has come forward unless there is a limited # willing to fork out the $$ for VB that are on a shared plan?

You can do this by clicking the "Go" button next to the Forum Jump box at the end.

Stef.

Maybe they wanted a list of VB sites to go in and post spam and advertise a XXX forum.

What do you MEAN :-)
Remember I was just a bit angry because you ignored my question.
Look. This forum is very fast. I just wanted to know whether it's because of you are using a Dedicated server for it. If I had had 2-3 vB site which I could have to compare with, I would have tested how fast it is, and then get a decision. Thats all.

I'm sorry, but you are trying to FLAME this forum. As I can see now it's not an official answer of the Gators. They didn't get an angry customer, even though they failed to gain a good one.

That is your choice, but I did give you an answer above. The "official answer" was that vBulletin will work with us. Can I hand out the names of sites that use vBulletin, no, of course not. And I am sure you would not want us to do that to you if you were a customer. Sorry you didn't find what you were looking for here! Good luck.

Ummm... isn't THIS vBulletin forum hosted at Hostgator??

That guy was out of line... you don't want customers like him anyway.

GatorJay,

Have you ever administered SMF forums? I have, but haven't on VB. I have heard from others that VB is secure, stable, etc. but I think SMF is getting reasonably close in terms of performance, stability, etc. and they have a very active user community with loads of mods/themes, etc. Based on everything I have seen, my gut tells me that VB is a little better in all of those areas than SMF, but not a lot. From a value perspective, if you're that close and FREE the price/value ratio is pretty hard to beat

David
