Unlimited domains...WHM or....?

I was looking at signing up to host several sites for my friends and family, but do the non-reseller accounts get access to WHM or is it something else?

No, only reseller accounts have access to WHM. The Shared accounts that offer unlimited domains use addon domains through the cPanel.
