I see that all of the hosting plans including Baby offer unlimited domain hosting. Is this really "Unlimited Domains", for example I have 7 separate websites I've designed, all various sizes, some 50MB, a couple 80MB etc. Can I host all of them under one account like I did with my previous host? I don't really know what sub-domains are, I'm assuming they are sites related to an existing domain name. Mine are all separate sites, separate clients etc. Thanks

The term "unlimited" is used to mean that there is not a predefined limit place on the number of domains that can be hosted under one account. There is, of course, a theoretical limit. The sum resouces of all of your sites cannot exceed that of your package.
There is also a difference between hosting unlimited sites on a regular hosting account as opposed to a reseller account. Multiple domains on a regular hosting account are handled through the use of addon domains. For example, your main domain is www.maindomain.com and your addon domain is www.addondomain.com. When the user types www.addondomain.com in their browser, the files will be retreived from www.maindomain.com/addondomain which is a subfolder in your main domain. The person viewing www.addondomain.com will not see this happen as it is totally transparent. Each addondomain will have it's own cgi-bin folder and ftp user access but will NOT have it's own cpanel login. If you want each domain to have a cpanel login of it's own for administration, you must choose the reseller route. -Justin |

Justin .. I think HG needs to give some sort of credit, maybe make you an official peer support person and give you whatever perks come along iwth it.
You know your stuff, and your answers are always clear and preecise.

Thanks for that info, Justin. One follow-up question:
If I create www.addondomain.com from your example above, what are my options for giving someone else the ability to edit the site via FrontPage and/or FTP? Can I set up a separate username/password for that person so they can get in and edit www.addondomain.com but not have editing access to www.maindomain.com. Thanks! |

How about using FrontPage, though? Will that username and password also give them the right to publish via FP to that domain (after installing FP Extensions, of course).

I'm not a FP user, but afaik you will be able to use it (could be you need to access it as addondomain.maindomain.com instead of www.addondomain.com though).
Maybe someone else can confirm this. Stef. |

I got the impression that "Justin" and "Gator Justin" were one in the same from reading some of the posts made by each. Did I get the wrong impression?

If I have several domains (from GoDaddy) and each of those domains point to different subdomains in one hosting account (say the 'Baby' one) which contains different websites for my online businesses, is there a fee for that?
Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks. Gabs interested HG prospect |

no, there's no fee at this time. What you're describing are add-on domains: domain names pointing to subdomains in one hosting account. Currently there's an unlimited domain offer on the hosting plans, including Baby. This allows you to do this without an additional fee! Keep in mind that you will have one cPanel to configure all these domains (unlike a reseller account which gives you cPanel for each domain). If you have any further questions please let us know. Wow, thanks for the response, Stef. I do have a few more questions though:
1. If my site exceeds its bandwidth, will I be sent a notification email? 2. If for any unforseen circumstance and not of my own doing, my site suddenly exhibits unusual usage of system resources, as I understand it will be shutdown immediately. Will I be allowed to reinstall my site again after it has been fixed? Are there any records or logs that I will furnished with or have access to to help me identify the time and cause of such disruption? Kind regards, Gabs |

Gabs,
1. Yes, when the bandwidth reaches above 90% you will get a warning mail. You can also track BW usage in cPanel/WHM. 2. Your site can be shutdown, or the script eating up all resources can be killed, and you will get a warning message. You will be allowed to reinstall your site. Of course, if you think you solved it but the problem keeps manifesting itself over and over again, we could decide not to bring your site up again. Tech support could give you some indication as where the problem occured. Let us know if you have any further questions. Stef. |
