I am very new to all this web hosting stuff so I hope this question isn't too stupid. I have a personal web site that I maintain and I have now volunteered to create a web page for a non-profit club that I am a member of. My question is can I buy one plan and put both web pages each with their own domain name on the same plan? If I do this will they have 2 different file structures? And will each name point to a different web page or will both domain names point to the same web page index? So if I have mypage.com and clubpage.org and the main page for each one is named index.htm will the url point to the right place?
If down the road I get a volunteer to help maintain the club's website can that person be given access to the plan to update and maintain the club site? ANd can that person be given permission to access the club site files but not my personal site files? |

The first part, yes. You can use an add-on domain to host other sites on your account. They will be completely seperate to anyone viewing but you. The file structure will still be the same, but in your public_html there will be a folder named after the site. That is where you would place your files. The problem with this is, you still only have one cpanel. If you were to give it to someone else they would be able to access all of your files. Unless you only gave them FTP access to that folder. Then they could change the files, but they would not have access to cpanel for mail changes, script installs, etc. Hope this helps.

I am having terminology problems with some of the replies on this and other threads. I am looking to host multiple web sites with different domain name that may be DNS hosted at a different location. Does the Baby Gator account do name based virtual hosting (Apache term) and does the Baby Gator account get a dedicated static IP address to do this with?
So: I have 3 domains parked at Hoster1 (a.com, etc), 5 domains parked at Hoster2, and 1 at Hoster3. I have full DNS control at all three hosters and can point the DNS A (address) records any place. I would assume that this would be a dedicated static IP on the HG-Baby account. I would then set up the “add-on domain” to accept the names for all the sites (a.com, etc)? Each add-on has it’s own web root? I would not need to transfer the DNS hosting until a later time if I choose? Thanks |

If you mean to say, "Registered", then what you are saying is that you have 9 domains registered. Can they all point to HG, the answer is yes. Quote:
