Default UK Question

Hi Gators
I've ben reading the forums for a couple of weeks now, and have gained some usefull information from members. I'm in the process of building my website locally. I really like Hostgator and when ready will purchase a reseller acount. somewhere in the forums i remember reading that hostgator has a Uk data center?
But it's only for dedicated servers is this true? or has Hostgator any plans to open a data center in England or Europe.

Hello GatorStevenN is the man to message on this forum for a quote, he posted a while back that it was dedicated servers that HG supplied in the UK. However he suggested to PM him for a quote as prices were changing you could try that.

I am in the UK and I am delighted with my reseller account.

Hi migz
Thanks for your reply. It's a pity hostgator's UK Data Center does not offer reseller or shared hosting. Would be snapped up by so many in the UK. I find the English data centers lacking somewhat in support and quality .

With the data center merger the UK servers aren't currently being offered but we should be offering them again later this year...

maybe I am missing something obvious, but who cares if data center is in EU, or in UK? this is a problem only for lawyers and barristers
if speed is right and price is right, and support is right, and everything is right then who cares about geo physical location really? it is Internet, not offline am I right, right?

If you are trying to target a particular local market (for instance a small local food outlet) then the location of your server can make a difference. If you read through the various pages of advice from Google then they state that the physical location of your server does affect your ranking in local searches.

I believe your right. Google knows how to prioritize its ranking so much so that if you want to be locally know on your products then you should acquire host with local affiliations. I just hope that everything will be fine for you.

HostGator may or may not yet have any plans to open a data center in England or Europe but maybe (and I believe yes) one day HostGator will have a data center open in england and europe. I recommend checking back on http://www.hostgator.com/ often.

I hope that HostGator will open a data center in england and europe soon.
