Two Weeks - Still teedering? Read this

Before Gator Host (I like Gator Host vs Host Gator :P), I was with a nationally renowned company, that all the big design firms in Tampa, FL used. I worked for many of these firms doing freelance graphics and php/MYSql coding until I got fed up with the entire rave, and had to try them out. Well Media Temple was their name, and this isn’t a bashing session against them, but, it wasn’t my taste. I do a lot of different free type work, ranging from hosting websites for friends I know for their video game leagues, church websites, and a lot of graphic design.

My experience with Temple was okay, but every answer resulted in a robot type ticket system, in which, no individual tech could ever help you out, with simple questions like: “Why is my site taking 40-50 seconds to load a phpbb?” Their answers ranged from “Well your requests are just so demanding!” You mean to tell me, that a 5 MB install of phpbb or drupal is demanding on such a huge company? Well come to find out, there was a deeper issue. For the past 3 years, my services have been wishy washy and never consistent. Their answer to me was “You’re using Shared service, maybe you should upgrade to dedicated services.”

I actually had my debit card out, and had entered the entire string of numbers, when I decided to look around. I actually found gator host at the top of some list of best satisfaction, and decided to start looking into it. At first, my impression was, “Wow they use the old looking cpanel, are they with today’s times?’ I was scared of SQL and PHP not being up to date, and was scared of using such a control panel (coming from the sleek panel at Temple). Well I looked a little deeper and seen you had 1 click installs available just like Temple. At first I really didn’t care, because Temple never updated the scripts, and never added any new ones, even after many submissions from me. Well I checked the version numbers, and seen that it was ALL the latest scripts! This was a huge plus for me.

I do a lot of restructuring and moding for drupal, and other freeware software, and I constantly have to uninstall and reinstall. This was a HUGE bonus!

Then I noticed something even more incredible….UNLIMITED SPACE…. UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH….UNLIMITED EMAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was paying almost double before, with a rope around my neck in availability! That wasn’t the only issue, before I had upload rates of ~24kbps, and now at gator, I have capped my local ISP! I had downloads capped at 220kbps per ip, and now I’ve also capped my ISP!(20 Meg Down ~ 2mbps).


I immediately got all my stuff setup on gator (12 domains), and was able to get all my sites online with no downtime. My database imports went smooth, and customer service was there to answer my ‘noob’ questions like ‘where’s this function/feature.’

Thanks for such a great service and product, and if you’re on the fence, I suggest you give them a try. I’ve only been 100% satisfied with the your services.

PS: Media Temple offered me a refund on the current month, because I had just passed the due date of the invoice. They were great, but Gator host is better! I'll send them your website on how to correctly provide Shared Services
