Yes you should send us an email, rather than just signing up a 2nd time. It looks as though your order could have been recieved but not billed. To prevent duplicate signups, email us at sales@hostgator.com and we'll confirm what needs done.

I did not manage to pay (even though I tried...). See below the emails I received from the support team (I deleted my emails and all names/email address etc.):
1. What was your primary domain name you signed up with? 2. I do not see zzzz.com in our billing system, please signup again for our service at hostgator.com 3. Due to the amount of fraudulent attempts online, our system automatically detects those orders which appear to have conflicting personal information entered. If you have not recieved your welcome email, and your order has not been located in our billing system, this means it was not fully processed by our automated system. Please try placing your order again, making sure to order from the same IP location as your billing address. Also try and use a credit card which utilizes the same name and address as your billing information. 4. That is the reason the order is getting denied, due to a fraud check. Please use a different form of payment that is linked to where you are located now. This can be changed at any time. 5. This is a security measure we have implemented into our signup process, please use another form of payment. 6. Are you able to attach a copy of your drivers license and a credit card to this ticket for verification of your identity on the order? 7. No worries, actually you don't need to, I'm not sure why they told you this. Just sign up at hostgator.com and make sure you have your popup blocker disabled so that the paypal part it will popup so you can pay, let me know if you have any trouble. At this stage (back in square 1) - I informed Hostgator that I registered with another hosting company. |

Wow, that post is very hard to understand. I'm totally clueless what exactly your problem was and why you got pissed off and went some place else.
I do have to say, fraud is a huge problem and if your order was in any way strange, it will be tossed by the fraud check. It is sad that their is so much CC fraud, but hosting companies have to be very careful who they accept payment from. Enjoy your next hosting adventure, you passed on a great company for the dumbest reason. (You only have to pay and sign up once, but you have to live with support for the rest of your life) |

I understand the importance of fraud checks, but I also appreciate how frustrating it can be explaining to service personnel that their fraud check software is a stupid GIGO programme, and they should please take my money.
A couple of months ago, I tried to sign up with Net2phone. Their fraud check programme rejected my perfectly good credit card. After exchanging e-mails like the one above with blockheaded support staff who asked me to jump through all sorts of hoops to give them my money, like faxing everything except my DNA sequence, I got fed up and signed up with Skype- with the exact same credit card, which was accepted on the spot. This worries me, because I'm thinking of joining HG. I live in the Far East, my Paypal bank account and credit card are issued by a bank in the UK. So my IP address will show I'm in Asia, and my card details will be in the UK- I guess I can expect to be rejected by HG. People should realise that in a global world with an international financial system, the billing address check is becoming increasingly stupid. |

It helps if your PayPal account is verified.
