Default Transitioning to semi-dedicated hosting

Where can I find info on the unadvertised "semi-dedicated" hosting plan? Pricing, system specs & other info, etc.

What's the turnaround time to transitioning from a shared server to a semi-dedicated server, roughly?

I'm not immediately interested in switching to a semi-dedicated hosting plan, but I might need to upgrade in the next coming months as I drive in traffic via paid advertising.

Thanks!

The Semi-Dedicated accounts are no longer offered. There is sometimes an unadvertised dedicated server available for $75 a month. You would need to contact sales to see if anything is available when you are getting ready to switch.

We have a few unmanaged dedicated servers available right now, but keep in mind they do not come with support beyond reboots and software updates. You can inquire about this server by emailing us at sales@hostgator.com

If you are going to need management and have the money, why get unmanaged to begin with?

What does semi-dedicated actually mean though? If its not a server, and its not with loads of people, what is it?

Semi-dedicated means that its a server that has a lot fewer neighbors sharing that server. It is still a shared environment but you dont have as strict of policies that you do on normal shared servers.

Its usually a go between from shared to dedicated although there are fewer and fewer because most people just decide to get a server all to themselves. Its really not worth it for hosting companies to provide this IMO. Might as well just go dedicated.
