I don't suggest uploading a site backup to your site root as now anyone can download your site and database :/

^^ although I totally agree with what uberamd said, uploading it to public_html folder when u have index.html/.php in that folder is not that bad, cause it will be a bit hard for someone to guess the exact filename + date+ min/hr/sec of the file.

It is way better to put that file in the main account's root folder (above public_html)

Yes, that is the only thing you need to do.

HG offers to move up to 25 sites from another hosting and they will not charge anything to you for doing this.

My forums are RESTORED! Thank you very much for the help everyone (I'm kind of ecstatic right now, in case you guys hadn't noticed )

On a slight side note, should I do anything with those backup files that are still in my directory? Or just leave them there?

If you have a copy in your computer, then I suggest to delete them, they only takes space on the server and they will be outdated very soon.

Regards.

All the functionality is working, but now I don't know where all my server directory info is. (My forums are an addon domain) and when I go into my forum directory folder, it states that it's empty, so how do I get to it?

The addon domain has to be setup again (if you have not already done it).

If the addon domain is not working, try to enter into the directory directly, and see if the forum works that way.

The forums working fine (just go and see the domain for yourself: www.conspiracy-forums.com )

But for some reason when go into cpanel, nothing's there, so this is baffling me.

very weird... can you put a snapshot of the directories that are on your FileManager under public_html? and tell us what is the name of the directory where the addon domain is pointing to?

My main domain is www.jameslewitzke.com

And the image of my primary directory:
http://www.jameslewitzke.com/images/direct1.bmp

Along with what happens when you click on the directory link:

There is an error message listed in the image of the cPanel File Manager. You should contact support so they can have a look. Have you logged in using an FTP program to see if the files show there?

Yeah, I used filezilla, nothing there either, it was the first place I looked to try to open up the folder.

(also just opened a ticket so they can have a look)

Is the directory in reference company-forums? And did you set the permissions that are 711? Change that to 750 or 755 might take care of it.

Yes, it is at 711, but it is preventing me from changing the permissions for some reason. Maybe this is an htaccess issue? (my last ticket problem was for extracting the gz files, and they edited the htaccess file afterwards (support))

Sounds like a need for a support ticket then.

Ok, if you cann't change directory permissions it could be that the directory and files are not chown to you but to root instead.

Ask support to change the chown to your own instead to root, that will help.
