Transfer of reseller account from other provider.

I am currently a reseller for another service provider and like what I see on this site.

I am close to making a final decision regarding moving all of my accounts over to hostgator.

I currently use private label name servers with my domain (ns1 and ns2) and am a little concerned / foggy on how to complete the transition, my concern is that I will need to change my registered name servers IP addresses and in the process my clients could experience downtime. It would make a lot more sense if I could use ns3 and ns4.mydomain .com is this possible or do you have some kind of documentation to show me how to do this with minimal downtime to my main site and the resold accounts thereunder?

Has anyone else done this?

Now for your question...

As for the downtime, you really shouldnt experience any. If your sites are contain static pages, then it will be a simple process. One moment browsers will find the pages on the old server, and the next they will find them on the new server. Seamless.

If any of your sites are dynamic, then your best bet would be to copy over your content and put up an http redirect from the old server to the new. This should result in very little (if any) downtime at all.

For security reasons, we do not allow telnet/ssh access to a shared hosting environment.
