You will have to create mysql dump files for your database and restore them in hostgators cpanel.. then download the forum files via ftp you have at godaddy.. then upload them to hostgator

To be honest there is really no need to - just change the nameservers to the one's that HG send you in your welcome email.

Regards, Steve Xx

Edit: but if you really wanted to - the answer is yes.

if you just want to change nameserver. Login to godaddy domain manager. And browse to the domain name, and to the nameserver on top menu. Change it to hostgator nameserver given to you on sign up email.

if you need to transfer it over to hostgator.. read this
http://support.hostgator.com/index.p...barticleid=119
its simple that it thought. Will be easy.

You'll be looking for the part that looks like this:

nsxx.hostgator.com
nsxx.hostgator.com

There should be two of them listed, and the two "x's" will be actual numbers.

We offer 1 free site transfer with shared accounts, it includes all files and databases: https://secure.hostgator.com/transfer.php

If you decide to do a transfer, simply change your DNS once the transfer has been completed and tested to the name servers that we provide in your welcome email.

Login to FTP with godaddy, and download all the files in your web root to your pc then go into godaddys cp and look for something like phpMyadmin to make the sql dump for the database. (im not sure what db manager godaddy have) then upload the files to hostgator via FTP and run the db dump in phpmyadmin in HG cpanel

The database screen looks *really* complicated - I actually just submitted a transfer request, so I'll see if someone else can figure it out first.

This is what I'm seeing - what should I be doing next?

The above is right.. you just need to tick the boxes for Add DROP TABLE & Add IF NOT EXISTS in the Structure colum and there should be an enter button or similar that you need to click and it will make the dump file

Yeah, there's a 'Go' button on the bottom (not shown), but do I mess with the 'Save as file' area? If so, am I naming the file the same as the database? How does that work, exactly? Compression, no compression, etc?

You can save it as whatever you want.. and its probably better with no compression then hit go

Get HG to transfer your site and get it working.
With that out of the road you can try and do the whole process yourself.
Just make sure to upload to a different folder and database to not over write your working stuff.

I can't speak for the rest of the people but I personally don't do private messages.
If you need some specific information then go ahead and ask.
You might just find yourself helped.
Alternatively you can always ask HG support or you can purchase support from my website.
